One Week in Ghana isn't long...

I can't believe I agreed to come to Ghana for one week to set up a school network! Basically, here's the lowdown...

The COG in Ireland sent PACUC 14 new computers, some networking materials, and a few new printers. They wanted to make sure it was all set up properly, with no computers being lost, stolen, taken, given as collateral for a bribe, or broken unnecessarily. So Dr. Grey, the School president, asked that I would please come back to Ghana to help the schools current lab manager set up the new lab. I said sure, knowing fully well that it would be in the middle of my move to California, and I would only have less than two weeks.  --Then the airline told me that they only have flights once a week, meaning I had to come on one day, and leave one week later.

Right now... I'm here in the computer lab on the last night to work. The internet is so slow that we cannot download a VITAL program that we need to finish the network. We have 10 computers hooked into a network switch, and none are talking to each other. A guy in town that can help us said he'll drop by sometime, and we're still waiting.  I'm so frustrated... but have to know that this is what life is like in Africa.

Anyway, the trip has been productive. We've set up most components on the server computers, and Tito Mawuli, the lab manager, should be able to finish even if I have to leave.  He's learned alot over the summer, and will do a great job replacing me as net administrator at the school.
