Now I see why we are where we are today... amazing parents. Mava & Randy (my mother & step father) came along with Papa & Nana to stay for 1 week, while while Alli graduated from
Fuller Theological Seminary. Alli's parents, Gary & Linda, came for just the weekend, and for 3 crazy days, we had 8 people in and out of our 1 bedroom appartment!
Alli graduated, as usual, very well in her class. She was part of a special cohort which met weekly with at the Dean's apparment, and served this last year as Vice President of her School. Even though we decided in March, it's still a bit of a crazy to think Alli will now be continuing next year with her Ph.D. (if eveything works out) and we'll be in California another 3 or 4 years. This is actually good new for my business, as I've just started doing well. But it just means prolonging our leave from the Church of God a little longer. We decided, however, that it's really the best time for us in many ways, not the least being that we have no children or current commitments anywhere in the world. (maybe we'll adopt some humane society dogs to keep us company!)
I believe our parents had a great time. We visited the beautiful Sierra Mountain Passes, the Ghetty Villa in Malibu, an imigrant Ghanaian church on Father's Day, and lots else. Mom even got an exciting ride on my new (new to me) motorcycle!
It's amazing when we connect with peers that have such broken and unencouraging homes just how much God blessed us. Both our parents work so hard, and continue to entrust us with support and wisdom.
